About Me
My name is Matthew Rodriguez, 50 years old, and I am passionate about bringing glory to God. I accomplish that through one of the gifts He has given me, not something I can claim on my own. I am good at what I do because He lives in me. We all have gifts; it’s up to us to find them. Cycling is one of mine, and I’m here to encourage you to discover yours.
Even though I have always believed in God, I have never acted, behaved, talked, or thought like a Christian. Twenty-three years ago, I didn’t believe or care how significant God was in my life. My only concern was how I could improve my life without thinking about anyone else. But now, my perspective has changed, and this is because I opened up my heart to Jesus.
It took a tragedy like this accident to help me become a true believer. It’s not because God had anything to do with my accident; He would never hurt us. It, however, helped me think about what I value the most. I want to bring glory to God and lead you to Him.
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
- Matthew 5:14-16
Did you ever love something that was then taken away? I certainly have had everything taken from me. The ability to walk, talk, eat, etc. Not a toy, person, or anything like that—something very important.
Why I Am Doing This
I believe this is what God wants me to do; my whole life has come to this exact point in my life. Cycling is a blessing from God, so I use His gift to show people how great He is and the things He has done in my life. My message is not about cycling; it’s about having faith in God and believing He will fulfill His promise. God did not save me from death to cycle but to share this with you.
"For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
- Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
I am here to share the best news with you. Yes, I am glad to be able to cycle again, but I’m even happier and excited to have been saved. Jesus came to Earth for one reason; to die and pay for our sins. It wasn’t by chance that you received my card or saw the sign on the back of my helmet. God either “prompted” me to give it to you or directed you to my site.
